Clinical supervision offers the guidance of a dedicated and experienced supervisor to help you establish supervision objectives, pursue licensure, foster your independence while ensuring accountability, prevent burnout, and enhance your professional development. Our clinical supervisors are dependable, punctual for supervision sessions and groups, and maintain focus without distractions.

What can I anticipate from clinical consultation?

You can expect professional guidance, support, and clinical consultation from a skilled and seasoned clinical supervisor of your choice to enhance your clinical competencies and client outcomes.

How are clinical consultation groups at Journey of Wellness Counseling & Consulting distinct from peer-led groups?

While peer-led clinical consultation groups are valuable, our groups offer the expertise of a facilitator to maintain focus, provide time for individual case reviews, handle scheduling logistics, and facilitate consistent group member presence for deeper connections and ongoing relationships. At Journey of Wellness Counseling & Consulting, our clinical consultation groups prioritize building relationships, preventing burnout, and are led by experienced clinical supervisors.

Can I attend supervision/consultation in-person or online?

Although our primary offerings are online supervision and consultation, for individuals in the Siouxland region of Iowa, Nebraska, and soon South Dakota, we also provide the option for in-person sessions in a private setting like your office or a designated location.  Arizona has specific requirements for in-person vs. online supervision. If you are in need of in-person contact in Arizona, please contact Jackie Berke, LPC, NCC to speak about in person supervision.  Currently, all our supervision and consultation groups are conducted online.

How frequently should supervision or consultation be done?

The frequency of supervision or consultation sessions depends on your specific circumstances and state board regulations. Licensure supervision meeting frequency is usually determined by your caseload or workload. If you work less than 20 hours weekly, we recommend adjusting your individual and group supervision hours accordingly. For full-time workers aiming to fulfill licensure requirements, weekly supervision sessions (adhering to state board guidelines) comprising a mix of group and individual meetings are typical. For fully-licensed therapists seeking clinical consultation, the frequency can range from weekly to monthly, involving individual, group, or a combination of both.

What are the guidelines regarding group supervision hours?

The number of group supervision hours permitted varies based on individual state board regulations and licensure type. For specific information, please refer to your state board's rules & regulations or explore details for the state of interest in the Location tab.

I have my own individual clinical supervisor. Can I still attend a supervision group?

You have the option to join a supervision group in addition to having your own individual clinical supervisor. At Journey of Wellness Counseling & Consulting, our therapists often have external individual supervisors and find value in participating in groups as well. It's essential for your Journey of Wellness Counseling & Consulting supervisor to coordinate with your individual supervisor to ensure alignment on supervision hours, skill development, and progress oversight.

How do I know what supervisor is the best fit for me?

Is there a commitment required?

When participating in a group, we kindly request that you commit to attending for a minimum of 6 months. Group sessions and consultations thrive when there is consistency among attendees. For individual supervision or consultation, there is no strict commitment; however, building a relationship with your clinical supervisor over time will result in the most effective clinical support. Journey of Wellness Counseling & Consulting offers various monthly plans tailored to your supervision or consultation needs, allowing you the flexibility to switch plans or end your arrangement with a 30-day notice.

Do you collaborate with therapists outside your specialty areas?

While we specialize in clinical supervision and consultation, we may not be experts in every niche. Recognizing that you may have more expertise in a specific area than your clinical supervisor, we value your knowledge. We can still assist your professional development by posing relevant questions, evaluating case conceptualizations, and encouraging you to discover insights on your own.

Physical Office Location:

If you are located in the tri-state Siouxland area (Iowa, Nebraska, and soon South Dakota) and seek in-person clinical supervision or consultation, we are available to meet you at your office or help find a suitable private setting. Journey of Wellness Counseling & Consulting currently operates as an online office. For those outside the Siouxland region (including Arizona and Colorado), in-person supervision and consulting arrangements can be made (inclusive of travel expenses).

Cancellation/No Show Policy:

We retain the right to charge the full session fee for any no-show appointments or cancellations made within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment or group session time.

Payment Options:

Select your monthly Supervision Plan or Consultation Tier. Arrange for automatic monthly payments via credit card. Alternatively, opt for an Agency Contract if your organization will be covering your services.
